Me and my Sis with Pa

It was Saturday evening, 30.1.2010, when I got a call from home that come back home right now, its urgent. At that time I had no clue what its all about. By the time I reached it was too late, Dad left us all alone.

He was not demonstrative. But I can say I was his favorite. And in many ways, he showed how particularly special I was to him.

With each passing day Pa, I feel myself more close to you as I see a reflection of you in me. I inherited your attention to detail and your hunger to grow in life.

Wish I can just get half of the strength from you. You single-handedly managed every bit-n-byte for our family. Dad, you were not the type to wrestle with your kids. You were a breadwinner & provider more than a weekend buddy. You were a silent, strong presence.

Now I know what all it takes to be called as Papa…. Its not just about being father, its about being a Dad your kids admire…and I really really admire you Pa….

Dad, I hope you are looking down on us from up there constantly.  We love you very much and miss you terribly. We will see each other again, for sure. For now, I have wonderful memories of you to carry me through the rest of my life. Thank you for all you’ve done for us. Thank you for loving us so much.

• Total Commander –  A multi purpose File Manager with great set of flexibility.
• Registry Editor – This one is for the geeks out there. It gives you plethora of options to configure your smartphone in exactly the way you want
• Fring – Single tool to login into multiple IM/VOIP clients like Skype, Google Talk, Yahoo, Facebook, Orkut etc however bit heavy on memory.
• Clean RAM -Does simply what its name suggests.
• YouTube Player – Plays directly from the youtube and provide options to store video as FLV and view later.
• Slide 2 Unlock – Nice utility to provide I-Phone style slider to unlock the phone

In this ocean of Internet, Google is undoubtedly becoming the replacement of water at a very fast pace  and so it’s not at all wrong to say

“Google Google everywhere, Google all around…”

Today you name the field, and you have Google there, be it the best Search Engine and now becoming the fastest as well or the fastest Google Chrome Browser, the future of OS based on cloud computing (Google chrome launching very soon) or the fastest internet protocol till date (SPDY), or the programming language of future Go.

I really dont understand what these guys in Google eat but whatever they eat, I wish they keep eating like this and keep bouncing the world with the best of Computing around… Good Luck Guys….!!!

As an add-on to normal search, it gives you features like searching based on Actors/Actresses involved, album name, song title and you can filter the results further based on the year range or file types. Also, you can directly play the song or download the file from the search results itself. Cool naa…

Inspired by this, Google also implemented recently the same but that too only for US residents. Poor guys, we have this feature since last two years. Cheers to these Indian brains

One of the major VOIP service provider, which provides cheapest calling rates to India, almost as low as 0.013$, with good sound quality is Nymgo. You can download its Softphone, and call through your pc to any phone in the world.

Nymgo has no doubt cool calling rates, but my worst experinces with it is in getting it functional. After long periods of my struggle with it, I finally came out with winning streak and thought to share the Nymgo configurational issues and their resolutions. Note: Below stuff can be too technical, so please bear with me or leave a comment with your concerns and I’ll try to elaborate more.

Issue 1) Nymgo Network Test fail – usually at NAT

Router Configuration

Resolution: If you are behind some firewall (or wireless router) and able to access internet properly but not able to make any calls with nymgo. Check out your router settings and disable inbuilt firewall in it. If even that doesnt works, Set up your machine in router as Default DMZ server and change NAT settings and other router settings as described in the image.

Issue 2) Nymgo Network Test pass – Still not able to make calls

Resolution: When I resolved issue 1, I actually landed in issue  2:) The best solution I found for it is to not to use Nymgo at all. I mean not to use its softphone to make calls, rather use best third-party VOIP softphone – Xlite. Configure its SIP settings for your Nymgo account as follows:

SIP Server Or SIP Proxy Server: ata.nymgo.com
SIP User ID: nymgo username
Authenticate ID: nymgo username
SIP password: nymgo password
SIP Port: 5060
Codec Used: g729
STUN Server: stun.nymgo.com
STUN port: 80

I believe this should solve your other issues related to Nymgo as well, If not leave a comment and I’ll try to fix it.

Note: Author of this post is neither a promoter of Nymgo nor its support executive. Rather I wont even recommend contacting Nymgo Support as these guys sucks. I raised one ticket to them for my issues but never heard a positive response.

I never intended to be a promoter of X-lite but it has turned out that way. Many of my readers have tried X-lite, some do faced issues in configuring it and for you friends, as requested, here comes the much awaited Screenshots of SIP configuration of X-lite:

Open SIP Accounts Settings Menu to add a Nymgo Account

Click on Add to add an account and Enter your login credentials along with server details as shown below:

Further specify STUN details under Topology head.

And you’re done

From my point of view, Windows 7 is basically a blend of pros of Windows XP and Vista. In other words, its just Cool to show of and smart to work with. Besides many cool new features, my best picks in it are:

• Jump Lists – Kewl feature to directly start last opened items of any program from taskbar
• Desktop Gadgets – Getting rid from Vista Sidebar actually gives more space on desktop to fun around with
• Library – It provides an amazing way to organize your folders, provide a direct access to them and alternatively index only specify folders for faster searching in a way saving on disk space as well.
• No more annoying UAC screens i.e. “Are you sure?” , “Are you really sure?” screens of Vista.
• Inbuilt System Image Backup and Restore functionality – However, I struggled a bit with it

I must say, give it a try guys. You’ll surely gonna love it and the best part is you’ll hardly face any compatibility issues with it.

The only problems I faced yet with Windows 7, may be because of my stupidity, is in configuring my VOIP softphone – Nymgo and creating recovery CD for Image Backup feature. Fortunately, I managed to solve both – one by using another third party software Paragon Drive Backup (Freeware) and another again a third party Softphone – X-lite.

Just a stat, in my computing life of last 9 years, I have almost formatted pc’s more then 80 times (including the times I have formatted my friends pc).. Gosh..thats huge…But now I have started using free Image softwares (probably I am too late..but still better late then never) which can simplify all your formatting tasks and you can restore your system in few minutes without the hassle of re-installing all the drivers n stuff….For a quick guide on making a backup ISO image of your existing state of system and quickly recovering from it, watch this video.
